Submit mondeling information

  1. Submit your topics and books here.

Lesson 12

As you know, the mondeling consists of three parts. Part one is discussing one of your two books for 3 minutes and answering questions. Part two is a discussion. You need to be able to introduce your topic, which you must do in no fewer than 60 seconds. Part three consists of a series of unprepared questions.

The following two lessons you will complete the following tasks.

  1. Choose two books to read. You could use this flowchart. See where you end up. You could also take a look at the official book list. Find out if you like your choice by checking your book's product description on sites like Amazon.
  2. Find a partner to do the mondeling with.
  3. For part two of the mondeling, brainstorm topics. If you want, you can use this document to brainstorm subjects for your mondeling. You could also go to sites like Google or Debate.org. Look for interesting texts in (the Op-Ed section of) TrueReddit, Slate, The Daily Beast, Wired Magazine, or Spiked Online. Alternatively, you could ask Mr Vermeulen for issues of Time Magazine or Alquin. Try and find at least two that you like.
  4. Then, think about how you can introduce your topic in 60 seconds.
  5. Think about pros and cons. Make sure you provide extra information for each. Write these down.

By the end of Friday's lesson, Mr Vermeulen needs your book choices. He also wants to see your work on the discussion. You should have two topics, for one of which you have listed all pros and cons, preferably supported by statistics, articles, facts, and figures.
